We welcome you at the school office with all your enquiries. We are available from 8.15am until 3.30pm each school day. The office is manned by Tracey Aindow every day, Marjolein Edwards Mondays to Thursdays and Claire Clayton Tuesdays to Fridays.

Top-up stationery purchases can be made here by either you or your child. Copies of
newsletters etc are available from the stand in the office foyer. Take time to see our foyer displays of children's work, Board of Trustees Minutes etc. Copies of policies etc are also available for your perusal.

The school policy is to check all unexplained
absences daily - if your child is away for any reason please let one of us at the office know before 9am, even if you have already informed the teacher please also let us know. Office staff will attempt to contact you by phone to make the check that your child is "safe" if we haven’t received a call or note advising us of the absence.

The office endeavours to keep up-to-date personal contact information for all our students in case of emergency or illness. We appreciate this being updated whenever circumstances change.
Email, phone or call into the office if you have any changes to your details. The information we hold has usually been obtained from the Enrolment form you completed when your child enrolled at Henley School and you are welcome at any time to view the information we hold.

If we are unable to answer your queries, we will endeavour to make sure you are directed to the appropriate personnel within the school to help. We enjoy meeting with our student's families.

Our History

Henley School was opened by Mr Tennant, the then Minister of Education, on 28 November 1962. The roll at the time was 192 and there were six classrooms. Mr W S Burnside (1962 - 67) was the first Principal and, through his leadership, the school built a fine reputation in the district.

The second Principal, Mr N M Brownlie, continued this fine work and during his time (1968 - 83) was largely responsible for the many ground improvements. His successor, Mr N Moore, retired from the position in December 1990. Mr Chris Ryan was principal from 1991 until his retirement in 2008 with the current principal Mr John Armstrong taking up the role at the beginning of 2009.

Henley School is named after a public vote, from names suggested through a “name the school” competition. The name Henley which was selected, proved most appropriate as the contributing area was first named “Henley” by one of the early settlers who came from Henley on Thames, England.

There was a steady growth in the population and the school roll peaked at 521 in December 1979. Then the roll, in line with the national trend, declined, as seen by the 1986 December roll of 398. Since that year however, with many new housing areas being developed near Henley, the roll is now consistently around the 500-600 mark. Our Learning Centre has recently been rebuilt (2015) and now includes a spacious Library along with multipurpose flexible spaces and a central Resource Room. The Administration Block was rebuilt and opened at the beginning of Term 4 2014.
