Absences
It is the policy of this school to check on absent children each morning and afternoon. If your child is going to be absent for any reason, you are required to let the school office know by 9.00am each day of the absence. Even if you have informed the teacher, you are asked to also advise the office. You can let the office know of the absence by one of the following methods
Hero app (if you don’t already have this please click here) As well as being able to send absence messages easily with it you can access your myKindo account, receive notifications if your child has been in the Medical Room, navigate to other school related web pages and view school term dates). In time, the school will slowly roll out further functions with the Hero app such as viewing the school calendar of events, receive and respond to school notices and book school interviews.
Phone (03) 5448904 and leave a message on the absence line
Email to office@henley.school.nz
Please include the reason for the absence or nature of any illness. The Ministry of Education require schools to code all absences and it is also useful for the school to learn of the prevalence of any types of illness taking place at any given time in the school. In the event of an unreported absence it will be necessary for the school to phone the parents home and/or work to ensure the child is safe.
Extended absences must be notified in writing.
It is important that the school holds up to date contact details for parents so please advise the school of any change of address, home phone number, cell numbers and/or work numbers. This can be done by using the Change of Contact Details form on this website, an email, phone call or visit to the school office.
